Wicked Winner at Royal Melbourne Show

Below is a press release after our recent big win at the Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards..

It’s Official- The Wicked Cheese Company has won the best cheddar cheese at the Royal Melbourne Show Fine Food Cheese Awards.


Wicked Cloth Bound Cheddar won the gold, the best of its class and the Cheddar Cheese Trophy. A great effort from a company that has been making cheddar cheese for only a short time. The Wicked Cheese Company has entered only 2 shows in 2013. The score is 1 Champion cheese, 1 champion of its class, gold medals for cheddar, Brie, Blue and it bottled milk and numerous silver and bronze medals
Based in Richmond and using milk supplied by Will and Kellie Blackburn from the Coal Valley the company is fast gaining a reputation as a leading manufacturer of premium cheese.

Specializing in making soft cheeses the company launched with a brie and camembert in their range and have now extended this range to include a Triple Cream Brie, Blue vein and a range of cheddar cheeses.

The cheeses can be sampled at the Wicked Cheese Cellar door at 1238 Richmond Rd Richmond, A cheese maker is normally on site to discuss the cheeses and cheesemaking process with customers.

Owner of Wicked Cheese, Jennifer McCoy says, “We are really excited to finally be in a position to start introducing some innovative new varieties into our range. Our plan was always to establish our brie and camembert on the market and then look to introduce exciting new flavors to the market. ”

The new Cloth Bound Cheddar Cheese recipe was developed on site by cheese makers Ashley McCoy and Todd Whitton. The cheese is matured for a minimum of 12 months, turned and oiled regularly with Award winning Olive Groves of Tasmania virgin olive oil.
